Puri: Four persons were arrested after police seized brown sugar valued at over Rs 1.7 lakh from their possession in Kumbharapada area of Odisha’s Puri town on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Kumbharapada and Talabania police conducted carried out raids at Banambara Square and near Huluhulia Bridge in Puri and arrested the four.
According to sources, the police seized around 17 grams of brown sugar having an estimated market value of over Rs 1.7 lakh, two mobile phones, a bike, and Rs 4,200 cash from their possession.
The arrested persons have been identified as Manas Rao, Ashutosh Behera, Krushnachandra Nath, and Saroj Patnaik.
Further investigation into the incident is in progress to ascertain the network of the accused persons.
