4 Bikers Die After Being Run Over By Truck In Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: Four persons on a motorcycle died after being run over by a truck on National Highway-26 near Jabakanaditha under Jeypore Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Dhoba Paraja (25), Loknath Jani (18), Ghasi Paraja (11), and Dhanpati Paraja (13) of Bichalkota village under Boipariguda block.

According to sources, the accident took place around 8 am when the four, who worked as farm labourers, were heading towards Bhatachinchi on the two-wheeler, carrying bamboo sticks. The speeding truck struck the sticks, causing the bike to fall and the labourers were then dragged its wheels. While three among them died on the spot, the injured was rushed to Koraput district headquarters hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.

On being informed, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the mishap, which is being attributed to possible dense fog this morning. The driver of the truck, who fled the scene soon after the mishap, has surrendered before police, sources added.
