Bhawanipatna: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday unearthed four multi-storey building, 39.64 acres of land, a farm house and a market complex during raids on Bhubaneswar Sabar, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in the Roads & Bridges (R&B) Division, Bhawanipatna, accused of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna, teams comprising 6 DSPs, 8 inspectors, and other supporting staff carried out simultaneous searches across Kalahandi district this morning during which significant immovable assets registered in the name of Sabar and his family members were detected. These include:
>> Four multi-storey buildings with a combined built-up area exceeding 12,000 sqft: 4,500 sqft double-storey house at Gosanimunda, Bhawanipatna, 2,625 sqft house at Kusumkhunti in Koksara; and two under-construction double-storey buildings (one meas
uring 4,228 sqft at Moter Chhak, Koksara, and another of 1,300 sqft at Kusumkhunti).
>> A market complex with eight cabins spanning 2,214 sqft at Moter Chhak, Koksara.
>> A farmhouse spread over nine acres at Kitpadar near Bhawanipatna.
>> 33 plots totalling 39.64 acres, primarily located on the outskirts of Bhawanipatana and Koksara. Key holdings include over 20 acres at Dwarsuni and several parcels at Kitpadar, Talabelagaon, Kutenpadar, and Moter.
>> A Hyundai Creta four-wheeler was also recovered.
Vigilance Technical Wing is currently assessing the exact measurement and valuation of the properties. Details of bank deposits, postal savings, and other financial investments are also being verified.
Sabar, born on June 26, 1979, joined government service on July 1, 1999, as a Junior Engineer in the Roads & Buildings Department with an initial salary of ₹6,000. He served in various capacities in Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Bhawanipatana before being promoted to Assistant Engineer in 2013 and Assistant Executive Engineer in 2016. He was elevated to Executive Engineer in March 2024 and currently heads the R&B Sub-Division at Dharamgarh while holding additional charge of the Bhawanipatna Division since January 2025.
