Bhubaneswar: Four persons were arrested by the Cyber Police for allegedly duping job aspirants of lakhs of rupees by making false promise of providing employment in AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
The arrested persons were identified as Badal das (23), Sanjay Kumar Sahoo (26), Sunil Sethi (29) and Ajaya Kumar Jena (25).
Police said the fraudsters were inviting applications from aspirants for different posts in the premier institute through fake advertisements on a Facebook account they had opened. They identified themselves as HR head of the premier medical facility.
After getting response from aspirants, the accused persons used to contact them and demand money. They demanded Rs 30,000 for each job and collected around Rs 2.28 lakh in the process.
It was alleged that the fraudsters, who posed as doctors, were also handing over fake appointment letters to the job aspirants and taking money from them.
The arrest was made after some victims lodged complaint with the Cyber Police Station alleging that they have been duped of around Rs 2.28 lakh. After thorough investigation, the four fraudsters were arrested.
The police have also seized Rs 80,000 cash, mobile phones and pre-activated mobile SIMs from their possession, the sources added.
