Bhawanipatna: Four persons died while two were critically injured when the four-wheeler in which they were traveling crashed into a tractor and was then hit by a truck near Lachipur Chhak on Nuapada-Bhawanipatna road in Odisha late on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified Subham Mohanty, Devendra Singh Lal, Rishi Sahu and Debraj Patel. All were residents of Khairiar.
According to sources, the accident took place when the four friends were returning after attending the birthday feast of Rishi’s elder bother. The driver of the car lost control over the wheels and rammed into a tractor. It was then hit by a speeding truck. The car was mangled and the rear wheel of the tractor got dislodged under the impact of the crash. All occupants of the car died on the spot. Two people riding the tractor were also injured.
On being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies for postmortem. Further investigation is underway and efforts are on to nab the tractor driver, who is absconding.
