Jagatsinghpur: Four persons including three members of a family sustained burn injuries as a motorcycle caught fire in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur on Monday.
According to sources, Papuni Das of Tartang village under Jagatsinghpur Sadar police limits had gone to purchase petrol from a shop owned by Pradipta Sethi in the village. After getting the fuel, while Papuni was pouring petrol in his bike, a woman holding a lighted lamp crossed the shop.
As a light wind blew at the time, the fire from the lamp leaped to the petrol tank of the bike. Immediately, the petrol burst into a huge ball of flame.
On its impact, Papuni and Pradipta and his two minor sons Dipti Ranjan Sethi and Smruti Ranjan Sethi came in contact with fire. The locals rushed all the four, who sustained burn injuries, to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Jagatsinghpur.
Later, three of them, who were critically injured, were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack.
