[Watch] 4 Israeli Women Soldiers, Held Captive For 476 Days, Released By Hamas

New Delhi: Four young Israeli women soldiers, abducted during the October 7, 2023, attack near the Gaza border, were freed on Saturday as part of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Hamas handed over the soldiers — Liri Albag, Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, and Naama Levy — to the International Red Cross (ICRC) after holding them hostage for 476 days.

Masked men paraded the women in front of a cheering crowd and were taken on a stage set up by Hamas in Gaza City before their release. Dressed in military-style uniforms, they carried bags provided by their captors, The Times of Israel reported.

The four soldiers waved and smiled before being escorted into ICRC vehicles, which took them to Israeli forces.

Captured while stationed at Nahal Oz military base, their abduction was filmed by Palestinian operators, highlighting the perilous situation faced by soldiers stationed along the Gaza border.

Personal Stories of Resilience

Liri Albag, 19
Liri, a vibrant young woman with a love for travel, music, and cooking, was reportedly forced by her captors to perform menial tasks. Her messages of hope to her family and her sister’s determination to honor her wishes have kept her spirit alive during captivity.

Karina Ariev, 20
Known for her compassion and dream of becoming a psychologist, Karina was wounded during her capture. Her resilience shines through despite her ordeal, as seen in videos shared during her time in captivity.

Daniella Gilboa, 20
A passionate musician aspiring to a professional career, Daniella has demonstrated incredible strength. Her love for piano and singing has been a source of inspiration for her loved ones.

Naama Levy, 20
A triathlete and peace advocate, Naama embodies determination. Having grown up in India and participated in programs fostering Israeli-Palestinian peace, she continues to symbolize hope amid adversity.

The release marks a significant development in the ongoing conflict and offers a glimmer of relief for families who have fought tirelessly for their loved ones’ freedom.
