Keonjhar: At least four people were killed and another sustained critical injuries after a hyva truck collided head-on with a car in which they were travelling near Badaposi Square in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Thursday.
According to reports, former Ghatagaon block chairperson Prakash Chandra Naik and his brother Chitta Ranjan Naik were among those killed. The other two deceased were brothers – Hrusikesh Singh and Narottam Singh. All of them were from Pipilia village under Ghatagaon block, police sources said
According to an eyewitness, the mishap took place at around 6.15 pm when the victims were proceeding from Keonjhar town to another place in a car when the speeding hyva truck rammed into their vehicle near Badaposi Square under Sadar police limits.
While three occupants of the car died on the spot, another succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Keonjhar district headquarters hospital (DHH).
Another person is under treatment in the hospital where his condition is stated to be critical. Further details are awaited.
