Baripada: At least four persons were killed and 11 others critically injured in two road accidents in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
As per sources, two persons were killed and 11 others sustained critically injured after an SUV dashed against a roadside tree near Khasadiha Chhak near Rangamatia under the jurisdiction of Baripada Sadar police station late on Saturday.
The driver, identified as Bhuban Singh, and another passenger, Jayant Kumar Singh (35), died on the spot.
Eleven others, who sustained grievous injuries, have been admitted to the PRM Hospital at Baripada for treatment.
The victims were returning from Rangamatia after attending an event when the accident occurred.
In another mishap, two youths were killed after their motorcycle collided with a stationary truck on National Highway-18 near Palabani Chhak, near Baripada town.
The deceased were identified as Bikash Mahanta (20) from Sindurgoura village and Mitu Mahanta (24) from Harischandrapur village. They were reportedly on their way to a local festival when the accident took place.
