Bhubaneswar: Four persons were killed and 20 injured in separate road accidents in Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj and Ganjam districts of Odisha early on Thursday.
According to sources, three youths died in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a scooter near Balijola Chhak under Badsahi police limits in Mayurbhanj district this morning. The deceased have been identified as Laxman Singh (20), Akash Singh (15) and Rajen Singh (25). The collision was so severe that both vehicles involved were completely mangled.
A bus helper died and 10 others were injured after the vehicle collided head-on with a truck on National Highway 53 near Jamankira in Sambalpur district. The accident took place when the bus was en route to Bhadrak from Sambalpur. The injured were rescued by Fire Service and police personnel and admitted to a hospital at Kuchinda before being shifted to VIMSAR, Burla.
Ten more persons were injured after the Bolero in which they were travelling overturned after hitting a road divider near Singadapalli under Ganjam’s Khallikote block early this morning. The accident took place when the vehicle was heading towards Puri with some youths from Balimela in Malkangiri. The injured were admitted to Community Health Centre at Khallikote and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. The condition of eight among them is stated to be critical.
