Bhubaneswar: Four persons were killed and seven injured in separate road accidents in three districts of Odisha in the last 24 hours.
In Dhenkanal, two members of a family died after their bike rammed into tree in Kankadahada police limits. The deceased were identified as Duggu Mankadia and his nephew Siddhant Mankadia of Malhar Sahi. The duo fell unconscious under the impact of the collision and were rushed to the nearest Kamakhyanagar hospital by locals, who found them lying in a pool of blood, but doctors there declared them dead on arrival, sources said.
Two more persons were killed and as many sustained critical injuries as a broiler-laden truck hit a stationary dumper at College Chhak in Balasore’s Soro this morning. The accident took place while the vehicle was on its way to Khurda from Kolkata in West Bengal. The driver and the helper of the truck were severely injured and later declared dead in a hospital.
Five policemen were critically injured when a patrolling vehicle overturned after hitting a roadside banyan tree while en route Subalaya police station in Sonepur district early this morning, the sources added.
