Greater Noida: Four workers were killed and five others severely injured after a lift in an under-construction building came crashing down on Friday.
The service lift, at Amrapali Dream Valley housing society in Greater Noida west, fell from the eighth floor and got stuck at the third floor.
“Four people have died. Five people are in critical condition and undergoing treatment in a city hospital. Our team is present at the hospital. Our officers are also present on the site and no one is stranded there. Proper treatment is being given to the injured,” ANI quoted Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate Manish Verma as saying.
The mishap took place this morning when the lift got stuck between the 8th and 9th floor, and later came crashing down, with nine labourers inside.
Citing negligence, the DM said strict action will be taken against the builder. An investigation is already underway.
Last month, a woman died after a lift collapsed at a society in Noida’s Sector 137.
