Bhubaneswar: Four members of a notorious criminal gang from Tamil Nadu were arrested by the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
The four, who belong to the notorious Trichy gang and allegedly involved in ten loots in the twin city within last one week, were arrested by a special squad, police said.
The arrested persons were identified as V Mohit, T Murthy, Nanda Kumar, and Dinesh, all aged over 40 years. They hail from Tiruchilapalli in Tamil Nadu, said a senior police official.
The police have seized four laptops, 25 mobile phones, and an iron cutter used for breaking car windshields. They were involved in 10 cases, including one in Cuttack, and have committed crimes in different parts of the country, he added.
The gang is known to target crowded areas, committing crimes such as looting valuables by breaking car windshield and pickpocketing.
The police will seek their remand to investigate the involvement of the gang in other districts of the state.
