4 Men From Kerala Arrested For Smuggling Ganja From Odisha’s Gajapati Dist

Paralakhemundi: Police have arrested 4 persons belonging to Kerala for allegedly smuggling ganja from Odisha’s Gajapati district to Chennai.

According to sources, the four smugglers from Palkot of Kerala had come to Mohana for procuring ganja. On getting information about them, a police team had kept a watch on their activities.

On Tuesday, on being informed that the smugglers were loading ganja to a container truck at Balipanka under Mohana police limits, the team conducted raid on the place. They seized the bags containing 208 kg of ganja from the place. The value of the contraband was estimated to be more than Rs 20 lakh.

The police also seized the container truck, a car, a bike, 6 mobile phones, 2 wireless phones and Rs 1.05 lakh from the possession of the four persons. The four persons included mastermind of the racket Anup Shekhar were arrested.

During questioning, Anup told the police that they were transporting the ganja from Mohana to Chennai. They also admitted that the racket was running for some time.
