Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,305 on Saturday with four more deaths being confirmed in the last 24 hours.
According to Health Department sources, two deaths including one from Bhubaneswar have been reported from Khurda district.
Here are the details of the deceased after an audit:
1. A 44-year-old male of Angul district who was also suffering from coronary artery disease – post Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary.
2. A 52-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from hypothyroid, coronary artery disease – post Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary, chronic kidney disease with compromised renal status.
3. A 71-year-old male of Khurda district who was also suffering from hypertension & bronchial asthma.
4. A 39-year-old male of Puri district who was also suffering from chronic kidney disease, psychiatric illness.
Notably, Odisha has reported 6,420 COVID deaths during the second wave against 1,876 in the first wave last year.
There were 346 casualties due to the disease in the state in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 41 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
