Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,238 on Friday with four more deaths being confirmed in the last 24 hours.
According to Health Department sources, one each death has been reported from Cuttack, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Sundargarh districts.
Here are the details of the deceased after an audit:
1.A 63 years old male of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
2.A 78 years old female of Kandhamal district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Covid 19 infections.
3.A 58 years old male of Nayagarh district.
4.A 85 years old female of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
Notably, Odisha has reported 6,354 COVID deaths during the second wave against 1,876 the previous year.
There were 346 COVID deaths in the state in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 40 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
