Raipur: Security forces killed at least four Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Abujhmad after a gunfight since Saturday evening, reports claimed. A police personnel reportedly was also killed in the operation.
Automatic weapons like AK-47 and self loading rifles (SLR) were recovered after the operation carried out by police teams and District Reserve Guards (DRGs) from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Jagdalpur and Kondagaon districts and the Special Task Force (STF), according to media reports.
The martyred security personnel was identified as DRG head constable, Sannu Karam, reported the NDTV. The gunfight took place in the densely forested Naxal stronghold Abujhmaad. According to reports, about 100 Naxalites, which is equal to about 50% of total Maoists killed last year, were eliminiated from Abujmaad in 2024, reports quoting anonymous police sources claimed.
Abujhmad has been a safe haven for the Naxals since the eighties.
