Angul: Four police personnel have been suspended from service for their alleged involvement in ganja smuggling in Odisha’s Angul district.
According to sources, the four personnel included three from Kishorenagar police station in the district and a police driver. They are ASI Jitendra Samantsinghar and constables Manoj Nayak and Lingaraj Muduli of the police station and driver in police headquarters Ajit Sahu.
DIG Uma Shankar Das issued the suspension order to the four personnel on the basis of investigation into the complaints of their involvement in the racket.
These personnel were allegedly helping the ganja smugglers, carrying the contraband in vehicles from Boudh district, cross Angul. Following several complaints against them in this regard, the DIG had kept a close watch on their activities.
After obtaining sufficient evidence supporting their involvement in the ganja smuggling, the DIG issued their suspension order, the sources said.
