Puri: At least four servitors of Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri were injured after being attacked by a group of around 15 armed miscreants.
According to sources, the incident took place in Gudia Sahi area under the jurisdiction of Puri Town police station late on Wednesday night when the servitors were returning home after attending a feast at Shankareshwar Peeth.
The injured sevayats were identified as Madhusudan Patri, Kashinath Pratihari, Batakrishna Mohapatra and Rajan Pujapanda.
The injured servitors were immediately rushed to to Puri district headquarters hospital for treatment.
On getting information, a team of police personnel reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police team also visited the hospital as part of the inquiry.
According to Madhusudan, the servitors were returning from the feast when around 15 youths surrounded them in front of Kashinath’s house and attacked them with sharp weapons, sticks and blunt objects.
The miscreants fled the scene soon after committing the attack and a hunt has been launched to apprehend them, police said.
