Puri: Four tourists were saved from drowning in sea due to timely action by lifeguards on the beach in Odisha’s Puri town on Saturday.
As per reports, a group of people belonging to Chauliaganj in Cuttack city had come to Jagannath temple in Puri on the day. After offering puja in the temple, all of them went to the sea beach.
Four of them, identified as Chintu Kumar, Bipin Kumar, Kamalesh Kumar and Mahesh Kumar, went to take bath in the sea while others sat on the beach. While bathing, the four persons were dragged by a strong current into deep water. As the others found them drowning, they started shouting for help.
The lifeguards on the beach jumped into the sea and rescued the drowning persons. They safely brought the tourists to the beach and rushed them to the district headquarters hospital. Their condition was stated to be stable.
