Dhenkanal: At least 40 people were stranded in a river as a boat in which they were travelling developed technical snag in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Sunday.

According to sources, the people had gone to ‘Makar Mela’ organised at Ramchandi shrine in Nadhera village under Odapada in the district. In the afternoon, they were returning in a mechanised boat to cross river Brahmani.

While the boat was in the midway in the river, its engine stopped working reportedly due to motor failure. As the boat could not move further, its passengers remained stranded.
