Berhampur: The doctors and nurses of two departments of MKCG Medical College and Hospital, here heaved a sigh of relief as they tested negative for coronavirus.
Four doctors and eight nurses of MKCG hospital had tested corona positive after a Surat returnee was admitted in the Surgery department last week. The patient, who underwent an operation, subsequently tested corona positive. The MKCG authorities had remained tight-lipped about the incident at the time.
However, swab of 10 doctors and nurses of the Surgery Department and 30 doctors and nurses of the Orthopedic and O&G Department were collected on Monday and Tuesday. All the test reports were negative, said Prof Santosh Kumar Mishra, Superintendent MKCG Hospital.
Swabs of 50 health workers were also collected on Wednesday and the report is awaited.
“We have asked all the doctors, nurses and health workers in MKCG to be cautious while checking and treating the patients. We are also making close scrutiny of the patients coming from different parts of Odisha and getting admitted in the hospital,” said the Superintendent.
