40 Hostel Boarders Of Govt Girls’ High School Hospitalised in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: At least 40 hostel boarders of a government high school in Odisha’s Keonjhar district have been admitted to hospital after complaining diarrhoea and vomiting on Wednesday.

According to sources, the boarders of girls’ hostel of Government High School at Raisuan under Telkoi block in the district were served ‘suji’ halwa on breakfast on Tuesday evening. At night, some of the boarders complained of head reeling. They also suffered loose motion and vomiting.

By Wednesday morning, the number of sick girls went up to 40. Around 100 girl students stay in the school hostel.

On being informed about their illness, the school authorities admitted them in the community health centre (CHC) at Telkoi. The condition of the students was stable, the hospital sources said. It is suspected that the students fell sick due to food poisoning.
