40 Injured In Bus Mishap In Odisha’s Kandhamal

Phulbani: Around 40 people were injured, some of them critically, when a passenger bus skidded off the road in a hilly area in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Tuesday.

According to preliminary reports, the mishap took place near Mundasahi under the jurisdiction of Kotagarh police station when the private bus was proceeding to Phulbani from Muniguda.

After getting information, police and fire services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers.

The injured passengers were subsequently rushed to a hospital in Kotagarh where the condition of some was stated to be serious, sources said.

While the exact reason of the accident was yet to be ascertained, the tyre of the bus was suspected to have burst after hitting some object along the road.  Further details are awaited.
