Jeypore: At least 40 passengers had a narrow escape when a tanker hit the tourist bus in which they were travelling at Hatapada Chhak near Kunduli under Pottangi police station limits in Odisha’s Koraput district in the wee hours on Sunday.
Sources said 40 passengers from Kunduli who had gone on a month-long pilgrimage were returning to their destination in a tourist bus.
After the bus arrived at Kunduli on Sunday morning, all the passengers got down of the bus at Hatapada Chhak. In the meanwhile, a speeding tanker hit the bus from behind. As a result, the bus skidded off the road.
Fortunately, there was no loss of life as there were no passengers inside the bus when the mishap took place.
Following information, Pottangi police rushed to the spot.
Eyewitnesses said the mishap as the tanker driver could not locate the tourist bus due to dense fog in the area.
