Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to construct a seven-storey hostel on the premises of Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for the Handicapped (VRCH) here within two years with one-time financial support of Rs 14 crore from Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) to the tune. The hostel will have a capacity of 400 beds, said SSEPD minister Prafulla Samal here on Monday.
Speaking at valedictory ceremony of a skill development programme for persons with disabilities, SSEPD principal secretary Niten Chandra said the government has planned to provide skill development training to 5,000 PwDs every year. A detailed proposal has been submitted to department of empowerment of PwDs, Government of India, for allocation of funds.
VRCH assistant director (employment) Ram Kishor Sharma presided over the programme and delivered the welcome address. Young professional, MCC-VRCH, Bhubaneswar J Padmanav Rao proposed the
vote of thanks.
On the occasion, 29 PwDs were provided self-employment tool kits
sponsored by Odisha Mining Corporation and 33 PwDs were provided
completion certificates.
