New Delhi: The Ajmer Sharif Dargah, which is considered to be among the holiest Muslim shrines in India, will observe Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday in a unique manner. They will prepare and distribute among the devotees around 4,000kg of vegetarian ‘langar’, according to reports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 74th birthday will be observed on September 17.
On the occasion of his birthday, ‘seva’ programmes will be organised at several religious places in the country. “On the occasion of his birthday Prime Minister, we will prepare 4,000 kg of vegetarian food, which will include rice and pure ghee, dry fruits and distribute it.
Along with this, the Gurus and poor people around us will also be given langar as a service,” Gaddi Nashin-Dargah Ajmer Sharif, Syed Afshan Chishty, told ANI.
The entire langar will be organised by the Indian Minority Foundation and Chishty Foundation of Ajmer Sharif. “We will also pray for the long life of PM Modi on his birthday,” Chishty added.
The ceremony will commence with the lighting of the ‘Big Shahi Deg’ at 10.30pm inside the Dargah of Mouinuddin Chishty. During the entire cooking process through the night, devotees will offer prayers and chant ‘Quranic verses’ and sing Qawwalis , said the Dargah authorities. Earlier, on several occasions the Prime Minister had offered Chaddar at the Dargah.
