Sonepur: Excise sleuths seized a huge quantity of ganja (marijuana) from an ambulance and arrested the driver at Kunja Chhack in Odisha’s Sonepur district on Thursday morning.
“Excise sleuths spotted an ambulance coming from Manumunda while on a patrol this morning and tried to stop it. The driver sped away leading to a chase. They finally managed to stop the vehicle at the block chhak,” Sonepur District Excise Officer Sumati Tripathi told the media.
After a thorough check of the ambulance, they found 420 packets of marijuana with each packet containing 1 kg of the contraband. The seized ganja weighed 4.20 quintal. The driver, identified as Upendra Sahu of Teliband village in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh, revealed that he was transporting the ganja from Manumunda in Boudh district to Chhattisgarh, the officer added.
