Angul/Bhubaneswar: In a devastating fire, over 40 houses were gutted in Badabandha village under Athamallik block in Angul district on Tuesday.
Fire tenders from Athamallik and Boudh reached the spot and took nearly two hours to douse the flames that began around 1 pm.
According to the tahsildar and block development officer, who rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operation, the cause of the fire is not known. It is suspected to be triggered by an electrical short circuit. The exact loss is yet to be assessed but is likely to run into lakhs of rupees.
However, no injury or casualty has been reported in the mishap.
