New Delhi: At least 43 people were killed when a fire broke out at a luggage manufacturing factory in a crowded area near central Delhi in the early morning on Sunday.
The incident took place at 5 am when the people most of them labourers, were sleeping at the factory in Anaj Mandi on Rani Jhansi Road.
Following the incident, 30 Fire Brigades rushed to the spot to douse the flame. The fire is suspected to have started at the workshop of the bag manufacturing factory, reports said.
Terming the incident as horrific, Prime Minister Narendra Modi prayed for the family of those killed in the fire.
Home minister Amit Shah, while expressing deepest condolences with the bereaved families, directed the concerned authorities to provide all possible assistance on an urgent basis.
