Berhampur: Vijaya Amrita Kulange, Collector and District Magistrate of Ganjam, seized 44 kg of ganja (cannabis) worth Rs 2.2 lakh at Chatrapur railway station on February 20.
The ganja was being smuggled on the Puri-Tirupati Express. One person, identified as Subham Pattanaik (26), a resident of Jyotinagar, Lane 6, under Baidyanathpur police station, has been arrested. The ganja was being smuggled to Surat, sources said.
The Collector seized the contraband in the presence of Prakash Mishra, Executive Magistrate cum Tehsildar, Chatrapur, OIC Sadar Chatrapur Mohan Padhan and others.
