Hyderabad: LB Nagar in Hyderabad has become a corona hotspot with 45 persons testing positive for COVID-19 after attending a birthday party thrown by a shop owner. It now has 15 containment zones.
The shop owner contracted the virus from a worker in Malakpet Gunj, where he has the shop, sources said.
According to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), 25 of the virus-afflicted 45 persons belong to families of the two shop owners.
“Both the shop owners contracted the virus from workers at Malakpet Gunj. They are family friends and visit each other’s houses regularly. Some of them had fever and soon, the virus spread to the rest of the members after the birthday party,” a senior official of GHMC informed.
Notably, LB Nagar has reported 57 positive cases and among them, seven persons have recovered while five have succumbed to the virus.
