Sambalpur: After 46 children tested positive for COVID-19 in three days, the authorities at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, are contemplating turning COVID-19 Hospital 1 on the healthcare premises into a dedicated paediatric COVID-19 wing.
Officials said that at least 46 children aged 12 years or below have tested COVID-19 positive here. Among 46, eight were aged five years or below.
According to official sources, the Odisha government has taken a call to reserve 15 per cent of beds for children infected with the deadly virus.
The facility will allow one parent to stay with the COVID-affected child as an attendant.
