48 New Posts In Odisha Vigilance; CM Directs For Filling Up Vacancies Across Depts

Bhubaneswar Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday approved creation of 8 additional SPs, 24 DSP and 16 sub-inspector posts in Odisha Vigilance.

The increase in the strength of the state anti-corruption agency is tune with the government’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards corruption, an official release said.

During a discussion with Nijukti Aayogs’ chairpersons holding recruitment drives for government posts, Majhi also instructed all departments to submit proposals to the commissions by March 31 for filling 1,10,557 vacant posts.

Seeking to accelerate the process, he advised for filling up vacancies in essential service departments such as health, home, school and mass education, higher education and agriculture.

Special recruitment drives should be conducted within a specified time frame to fill the vacant posts reserved for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes in various departments, he said, adding that increase in manpower will help the government to provide better services to the people of the state.

The CM said the state government has set a target for 1.5 lakh appointments in the public sector over the next five years. Of these, 65,000 government posts will be filled up in two years.

He further stated that approval from the empowered committee is not required for group-B positions. A decision was made to reorganise the empowered committee in the finance department to include representatives from the social security department for verification and reservation in the recruitment of differently-abled individuals.

The CM also proposed establishing an exam centre of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) at Jeypore for the convenience of candidates residing in Koraput district.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
