49 Plots, 14 Acres Of Farmhouses & Kilos Of Gold, Silver; Vigilance Raid Reveals Odisha Engineer’s Assets



Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday recovered two flats, two farmhouses spanning over 14 acres, 49 valuable plots, 940 grams of gold jewellery, and 2.5 kg silver during searches on properties linked to Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Satyanarayan Sethy of Kotpad block in Koraput district.

The assets, which also included Rs 5.48 lakh and deposits amounting to Rs .60.92 lakh, were unearthed during simultaneous searches in Koraput, Khurda, and Kendrapada districts, amid allegation that the AEE has accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income.

Assets unearthed include:

>> A 2-BHK flat (approximately 1,000 sq ft) on the ground floor of Block-B/6, Plot No. 132, in Hi-tech Plaza, Madhipur Mauza, Jatani, Khurda district.

>> Another benami flat in Golden Height Residence apartment at PR Peta, Indira Chhak, Jeypore, registered in the name of a close associate and currently under verification.

>> A 10.03-


acre farmhouse with mango and eucalyptus plantations at Mouza-Taragaon, Boriguma Tehasil, Koraput district.

>> Another 4.35-acre farmhouse with Nilgiri plantation at the same Mouza-Taragaon location.

>> 49 valuable plots were identified under various tehasils in Koraput district (Jeypore, Boriguma, Kotpad, and Patangi), of which 17 are suspected benami properties purchased in the name of a relative and now under scrutiny. Valuation and measurement of these properties are being handled by the Vigilance Technical Wing.

>> Cash amounting to Rs 5,48,000.

>> 940.66 grams of gold jewellery, , 2.493 kg of silver ornaments

>> Bank deposits exceeding Rs 60.92 lakh.
Other recoveries comprise a benami Tata Harrier four-wheeler (along with a suspected benami two-wheeler under verification) and household articles valued at around Rs 5.52 lakh.

The raids, which began this morning, are being conducted simultaneously by teams comprising 7 DSPs, 9 Inspectors, 11 ASIs, and supporting staff on the basis of search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore. Properties searched included Sethy’s rented residential house at Parabeda in Jeypore, the flat at Hi-tech Plaza in Jatni, his parental house at Jahangar in Kendrapada district, government quarters at Kotpad, his office chamber at Kotpad, and the two farmhouses at Taragaon.

Sethy, who joined government service in 1998 as a junior engineer at a salary of 7,100, is currently being examined to determine the sources of these assets.
