Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance has traced 1.8 kg gold and over Rs 1 crore of suspected ill-gotten cash belonging to Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha Limited (IDCOL) Deputy Manager Gaya Santara during raids at different locations in Odisha capital.
Assets unearthed
>> Rs 1.06 crore recovered during searches in Bhubaneswar.
>> 1.83 kg gold and 6.75 kg silver unearthed from his residence in Bhubaneswar.
>> Bank deposits of Rs 4.19 crore.
This is fourth highest cash seizure in the history of Odisha Vigilance. The others are:
Rs 3, 41,66,280 during house searches against Kartikeswar Raul, AE, MI, Bhanjanagar, Ganjam in April this year
Rs 1,40, 18,070 during house searches against Ashish Kumar Das, SE, RW Division, Malkangiri in March this year
Rs 1.13 crore during house searches against Dr Sukant Jena, Gynecologist, Charichhaka CHC in February this year
Notably, two multi-storey buildings in Bhubaneswar, 13 plots in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, Nayagarh, 2 four-wheelers and 4 two-wheelers were unearthed during simultaneous house searches at multiple places in Bhubaneswar, Nayagarh, Koraput and Rayagada on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Gaya Santara has been brought to Bhubaneswar from Sunki, Koraput, and questioned in connection with the huge cash, bank deposits and other assets.
