Koraput: Eight persons, including five college students, were arrested for allegedly trafficking ganja in Nandapur area of Odisha’s Koraput district on Saturday.
Apart from the five college students, the other three arrested persons Laxmidhar Khila, a middleman from Katwa, and Rahul Kumar and Saddam Hussain of Champaran area in in Bihar, police said.
The five college students led by one of them, were transporting 35 kg ganja in a car to deliver the stuff to middleman Laxmidhar when they were caught by a police team.
Laxmidhar was supposed to deliver the ganja to Rahul Kumar and Sadam Hussain of Bihar at Damanjodi Railway Station in Koraput district, according to Nandapur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sanjay Mohapatra.
A case has been registered in this regard under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The arrested persons are being produced in a local court, he said.
The arrested college students have been identified as Sadanand Guntha of Daleiput, Bhisma Guntha, Jogesh Khada, Damodar and Dambarudhar Khara of Arlaput.
