Balasore: At least five people were grievously injured after a car rammed into a moving container truck in Soro area of Odisha’s Balasore district in the early hours of Wednesday.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place on National Highway No. 16 near Talanagar between 4.30 am and 5 am.
Sources said the car was proceeding from Betanati in Mayurbhanj district to Puri when
it dashed against the rear of the container truck moving in the same direction. Following the collision, the vehicle reportedly veered off the road and crashed into a roadside shop. The car was severely damaged in the collision.
All five occupants of the car sustained serious injuries. They were rescued by personnel from the National Highway patrol team, who arranged for an ambulance. The injured were initially taken to the Soro Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment.
As the condition of two passengers worsened, they were shifted to a hospital in Cuttack for advanced medical care.
Preliminary findings suggest that the driver may have dozed off at the wheel, leading to the accident. However, Soro police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap.
