Ghazipur: At least five people were killed and 10 others injured after a bus came in contact with a high-tension live electricity wire and went up in flames in Mardah of Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district on Monday.
According to reports, the bus carrying around 3o passengers was going from Mau to Ghazipur. While the bus was passing through a rural road to reach a wedding venue in a temple, it came in contact with an 11 KV live wire and went up in flames.
It was a CNG vehicle used as a school bus. Local residents struggled to put out the fire. Of the injured persons, four are in critical condition and the death toll is likely to increase, NDTV reported.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for family of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
The state government has deployed emergency responders to the accident spot to help the affected passengers.
