Keonjhar: Five people were injured, two of them critically, when the car in which they were travelling fell into a 30 ft gorge from a hilly road in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Tuesday.
As per preliminary information, the five persons were returning after attending a marriage function at Thakurmunda in Mayurbhanj district when the mishap took place near children’s park at Anandpur in the morning.
The car fell 30 feet from the hilly road apparently after the driver lost control over the wheels while negotiating a sharp turn, sources said. While five persons sustained injuries, the condition of two was stated to be critical. All the injured are reported to be from nearby Padmapur village.
Locals rescued the injured persons and rushed them to Anandpur hospital for treatment. Two of them were later shifted to Cuttack as their condition deteriorated.
On being informed, a team of police personnel visited the site and launched an investigation into the incident.
