Khariar: At least five people were injured in an acid attack during a group clash that took place at Duajhar village under Khariar area of Odisha’s Nuapada district on Thursday.
Soon after the incident, all the injured were first admitted to Khariar Hospital. Two of them were later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) at Nuapada as their condition deteriorated, sources said.
Three injured were identified as Manijar Saraf and his two sons Vijay and Dhananjay from one group. The two others were identified as Ghanashyam Saraf and his wife Santoshi of another faction.
According to information, members of both the groups belong to goldsmith families. The two families had a dispute over the making of ornaments in another village. They were often indulging in altercations over the dispute.
A heated argument took place between the families earlier in the day near Duajhar river when they were on their way to the nearby village for making ornaments. Things turned violent when both the families threw acid on each other group members.
After getting information, a team of police personnel rushed to the site and pacified members of the two groups.
