Pipili: At least five people were injured after a speeding car they were travelling in rammed into a divider and skidded off the road on the Bhubaneswar-Puri National Highway.
The mishap took place at Mangala Sidi near Pipili on Thursday night
. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was badly mangled, leaving its occupants trapped and critically injured.
All 5 people, including the driver, were rushed to a hospital at Mangalpur before one of them was shifted to Capital hospital in Bhubaneswar due to being critical.
Sources say the car was travelling at a high speed which lost control possibly due to fog which reduced visibility. The passengers are reported to be transgenders, who were returning after performing in a program.
Police have seized the vehicle and launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on whether over-speeding or driver negligence led to the crash.
