Bhubaneswar: At least five people were killed and some others critically injured in three separate road accidents in Odisha on Friday.
According to sources, two persons were killed and another sustained grievous injuries as two motorcycles, on which they were travelling, collided head-on on the Biju Expressway near Sinapali in Nuapada district this afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as residents of the nearby Darlipada village. The injured was taken to a nearby hospital first and later shifted to the Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital at Bhawanipatana as his condition deteriorated.
In another road accident, two persons were killed after being run over by a speeding truck at Umerkote in Nabarangpur district, sources said.
In another mishap, a scooter rider died after he was hit by an unknown vehicle at Singada Chowk under the Karanjia area in Mayurbhanj district in the afternoon.
Cases have been registered by the police in connection with these accidents. Investigations are in progress.
