Bhubaneswar: Police have busted a gang of looters that was involved in several cases of house robbery in Bhubaneswar.
Following complaints of house owners about loot from their residences in their absence, Nayapalli police launched an investigation and started collecting information.
During the investigation, the police identified some persons who used to move in streets to collect scrap materials. The police detained them and started questioning about their activities. Finally, they admitted that they used to target the houses while moving around as scrap collectors and loot the house when it was locked at night.
Police have arrested total 5 members of the gang including the mastermind who belongs to West Bengal. Other looters are from Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada.
The police have also seized cash of several lakhs of rupees and stolen household items from their possession.
