Bargarh: Only two days after a woman allegedly slit her six-month-old child’s throat in Odisha’s Balangir, a drunk man killed his five-month-old son by slamming him to the ground.
The incident reportedly took place in Cherengajhanja village under Paikmal police limits of Bargarh district on Saturday night.
The accused, identified as Hemant Bhue, allegedly had an altercation with his wife over money. When his wife refused to give him money, he became furious and slammed the five-month-old child to the ground in a fit of rage, sources said.
The baby was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical state where he was declared dead.
Villagers said Hemant is a habitual drunkard and spent all his money on alcohol because of which he had frequent quarrels with his wife.
On being informed, a police team visited the site and took the accused into custody. Investigation into the incident is in progress.
