Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated intense downpours in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Sambalpur, Angul and Deogarh districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall triggered by another low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is also likely at isolated places in Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Balangir and isolated heavy rainfall in Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Khurda, Nayagarh, Malkangiri and Sundargarh till 8.30 am on August 15, the met office said.
“The low-pressure area over north Coastal Odisha and neighbourhood now lies over north Coastal Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal. Associated cyclonic circulation now extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height. It is very likely to become more marked during the next 24 hours.” the mid-day bulletin said.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Nuapada, Nawarangpur, Boudh and Balangir.
Interior and coastal Odisha are likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershower.
The rainfall activity will continue on August 17 and August 18. The IMD has, however, issued no warning for these two days.
