Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police arrested five persons for allegedly selling smuggled ganja in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
The Commissionerate Police, in a release, said the inspector in-charge (IIC) of Mancheswar police station in the city received information from reliable sources that five persons in a car were selling ganja to general public near Hi Tech Square beside Kuakhai river.
The IIC formed a special team and sent them to verify the information. The team carried out a raid at the place and apprehended five persons.
On searching their car, the police team found 21 kg of ganja inside the vehicle and seized it. They also seized two bikes and five smart phones from the possession of the five persons.
During questioning, the apprehended persons revealed to the police that they had bought the ganja from Kandhamal and were selling it to youths at higher price in Bhubaneswar.
The police arrested all five persons and forwarded them to the court. Further investigation is on.
