Dhenkanal: Five police personnel were seriously injured after their van dashed against a tree while chasing a cattle-laden vehicle in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district in the early hours of Friday.
According to sources, the mishap took place near Beltikri village in the district when the police personnel were proceeding in the van in the wee hours during an operation to catch a vehicle allegedly carrying cattle in an illegal manner.
While chasing the cattle-laden vehicle, the police van reportedly rammed into a roadside tree after losing balance, causing grievous injuries to five police personnel.
The injured cops were initially rushed to a hospital in Dhenkanal for treatment and later shifted toe the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
