Jammu: At least five soldiers were injured after terrorists attacked an Indian Air Force vehicle convoy in Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch district on Saturday.
According to officials, the militants opened fire when the vehicles were travelling towards Sanai Top, in Surankote area, in the evening.
The injured troops have been airlifted to Udhampur’s Command Hospital for further treatment, ANI reported quoting officials of security forces. One of the injured soldier was learnt to be in critical condition.
A Rashtriya Rifles unit cordoned off the area where the incident took place and are carrying out search operations.
The vehicles which came under attack have been secured inside the air base near Shahsitar.
The Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir police personnel are making every effort to tack down the militants involved in the incident.
This is the first major attack on the Armed forces in the region this year, following a series of attacks on the Army in 2023.
Visuals from after the attack showed at least a dozen bullet holes on the windscreen of the vehicle that came under fire.
