New Delhi: As many as five terrorists, which included a Jaish-e-Mohammed commander, were gunned down in two separate encounters by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, the cops said.
The encounters happened when anti-terror operations were being carried out in Pulwama and Budgam districts last evening, police further said.
“5 terrorists of Pakistan sponsored proscribed terror outfits LeT and JeM killed in dual encounters in last 12 hours. JeM commander terrorist Zahid Wani and a Pakistani terrorist among the killed. Big success for us,” the cops said via a tweet.
In a separate operation in Budgam district’s Chrar-e-Sharief area, one terrorist was killed. One AK rifle was recovered by police from the encounter site.
According to Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, the encounters are a major success for the police.
Last month, a total of 22 terrorists were killed during more than a dozen encounters in the Valley.
